Humanist Community of Leeds

What is humanism?

Humanism is the belief that you can live a good and happy life without religion. It is the belief that we only have this one life and that we need to make the most of it for ourselves and those around us. Humanists make sense of the world with evidence and reason, rejecting superstition.

Am I a humanist?

Probably, yes! According to recent surveys, the majority of the British population has humanistic beliefs. If you think you might be a humanist then ask yourself the following questions...

  1. Do you reject superstition including the idea of a god or gods?
  2. Do you care about yourself and those around you such as your family, friends and neighbours?

If you answered yes to both of those questions you are a humanist!
